Why Are You Running?

Each of us starts running for a reason. (Sometimes for multiple reasons) When we begin to lose sight of that reason, running quickly loses its luster. And once that happens, it is an internal battle every day to get moving.

Sometimes we don’t feel like running is getting us to our goals while other times we just can’t seem to find the motivation. Often the problem isn’t with running, it is with us. Looking inward to discover why we are struggling can help us to realize where we are going and to appreciate what we have and where we have come from.

Running is one of the best things you can do for your health, but you won’t get any benefit if you don’t stick with it. Look behind your frustrations and see if there is something more than what is on the surface. And remember to be realistic. Sometimes our expectations of what running should do for us are impractical. Keeping reasonable expectations will help to make our goals more attainable. And after you have met your goals, you can keep setting new ones so that you continue to be challenged. Keep yourself focused on what you are trying to attain and figure out how running fits into that picture.

Whatever your reason for running, understanding it will give you the knowledge and insight to keep moving along the path to your fitness goals. Each situation below offers running information and tips to help keep your ‘eye on the ball.’ (Or, more appropriately, on the road)
